The Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI)
The ACTFL OPI is a standardized procedure for the global assessment of functional speaking ability. The OPI resembles a conversation between two people but, in fact follows a strict standardized structure and elicitation protocol. The interview is interactive and continuously adapts to the candidate's professional and academic experiences, and the linguistic competence, of the candidate. The OPI also includes a role play. Content areas and/or role-play may be customized by the client. The speech sample is digitally recorded by our proprietary system and one of ten possible ratings is assigned.
Oral Proficiency Interview - Computer (ACTFL OPIc)
The ACTFL OPIc was developed in response to the need for language assessments that can be delivered immediately and on-demand. It is an internationally used, semi-direct test of spoken fluency delivered via the internet and digitally recorded. Each test is unique and tailored to the candidate's linguistic ability, work experiences, academic background and interests. One of seven possible ratings is assigned.
The Advanced Level Check - Speaking (AL Check)
The Advanced Level Check is a valid and reliable testing method that measures whether a candidate meets the requirements of an Advanced - Low level of speaking proficiency. The AL Check assesses language proficiency in terms of the candidate's ability to use the language effectively in real-life, formal and informal, situations. The candidate's sample is measured holistically by determining patterns of strength and weaknesses within the "Advanced" range of proficiency. A rating of Qualified (Q) or Not Qualified (NQ) is given.
