Official ACTFL Writing Proficiency Test (WPT)

Written language proficiency can be demonstrated through the Writing Proficiency Test. This is a proctored, standardized test for global assessment of functional writing ability, measuring how well a person writes in a language. Candidate's writing samples are double rated and an official ACTFL WPT Certificate, stating the candidate's proficiency level, is issued.

The Advanced Level Check - Writing (AL Check)

The "AL Check" is a standardized procedure that measures whether a candidate meets the requirements of an Advanced-Low level of writing proficiency. A truncated version of the standard ACTFL Writing Proficiency Test, this 30 minute assessment is designed to measure language production holistically by identifying patterns of strength and weaknesses within the "Advanced" range of proficiency. Tests can be delivered by exam booklet or internet depending on language and quantity of tests. The outcome is stated in terms of "Q" (qualified) or "NQ" (not qualified) if the candidate's speech does not meet criteria for Advanced-Low.
