Businesses that provide insurance, technology, education, communications, retail, and healthcare services are among them.

“Ziply Fiber—an internet service provider—analyzed data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), Indeed.com, and other employment sources to determine the remote jobs for which employers appear likely to be doing the most hiring. The good news for older adults is that several of the most in demand positions are also popular with people aged 50 and older because of the flexible work opportunities they provide,” (Terrell). According to data cited by the report, the jobs expected to offer most of the remote work opportunities are Customer Service Representative, Virtual Administrative Assistant, Registered Nurse, Software Developer, Digital Marketing Specialist, Tutor, Computer Systems Analyst, Graphic Designer, Web Developer, Information Security Analyst, Speech Pathologist, Translator, Operation Research Analyst, Occupational Therapist, and Medical Writer.

“While translators work with the written language, interpreters work with the verbal one. Remote interpreters join video calls or phone conversations to help translate from one language into another. As the global economy expands, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics dubs the career as one with much faster than average growth. In fact, it predicts that this field will grow 20% from 2019 to 2029,” (Griffis).

Meeting the Qualifications for Bilingual Roles

Some of these positions, especially in the health sector, are traditional face-to-face roles that after the pandemic have come to be part of the virtual modality known as telehealth or telemedicine. Other opportunities are typical remote jobs that are always in demand or are expected to grow. Assessing your language proficiency skills will help you to find your perfect fit. It is worth noting that, in addition to handling conversations in another language, it is important to contemplate the frequent written messages between peers and clients that remote work demands. Having the proper certifications and licenses to work as a bilingual or multilingual professional is always an important credential to highlight on your resume and/or during an interview.

Read more –> How to Include Language Skills on Your Resume

In-Demand Languages

According to a study conducted for ACTFL, Spanish and Chinese Mandarin are among the most in-demand foreign languages reported by U.S. employers.
