October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month, and at Language Testing International\u00ae (LTI), we take protecting your data seriously. Keeping Client Data Secured<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

First, we use something called <\/span>multi-tenant architecture<\/span><\/i> to store customer data. This sounds technical, but it simply means that each client\u2019s data is kept separate from everyone else\u2019s. On top of that, all data is encrypted (locked with a special digital key) and given its own unique encryption code. This approach helps ensure that only the right people can access your information.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

When data is being sent between systems\u2014whether that\u2019s a file upload or a login\u2014we make sure it\u2019s protected by the latest encryption technology, called <\/span>Transport-Layer Security (TLS 1.2+)<\/span><\/i>. This is like sending your information through a secure tunnel, keeping it safe from prying eyes during the transfer.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We don\u2019t stop there. We also regularly test our systems to identify and fix any potential weaknesses. This includes vulnerability and penetration testing on all LTI devices, apps, and websites. Our testing is like a “fire drill” for security, ensuring we’re always ready to protect your data.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Protecting Children\u2019s Information Online: COPPA Certification<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

For tests like <\/span>AAPPL and ALIRA<\/span><\/a>, which are designed for K12 students, we go the extra mile. Not only are these test portals and related websites COPPA-compliant (meaning they meet <\/span>legal<\/span><\/i><\/b> requirements to protect children’s privacy online), but they\u2019re also <\/span>COPPA-certified<\/span><\/i><\/b>. This certification means we\u2019ve been independently reviewed to ensure we\u2019re upholding the highest standards for children\u2019s privacy.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In 2022, both the AAPPL and ALIRA test portals and websites were awarded PRIVO\u2019s COPPA Safe Harbor Seal for meeting the highest standards for protecting children\u2019s privacy. LTI takes children\u2019s data security seriously and follows stringent protocols to ensure your learners\u2019 privacy is protected according to federal requirements. \u201cIn addition to bi-annual assessments, PRIVO conducts compliance monitoring on a regular basis. The PRIVO Kids Privacy Assured COPPA Safe Harbor Certification Program is approved by the Federal Trade Commission as an authorized safe harbor under the Children\u2019s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA)\u201d (<\/span>https:\/\/cert.privo.com\/#\/companies\/languageTestingInternational<\/span><\/a>).\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Everyone Plays a Role in Keeping Data Secure<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

Finally, our employees play a key role in keeping LTI secure. Every team member participates in regular information security training to stay sharp. We also run phishing tests to help staff recognize suspicious emails, so they\u2019re prepared to prevent any real-world attacks.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
