ACTFL Proficiency Assessments and Certifications

Welcome! Thank you for your interest in purchasing an ACTFL language assessment through Language Testing International (LTI).

On the next screen you will select the test(s) you wish to purchase. Please click the link under the test to get more information about the selected test. After you pay for the test(s) that you have selected, you will schedule your assessment with our third party remote proctoring vendor. The remote proctoring vendor will send you the confirmation email with all the test details.

By purchasing the test you are certifying that you age 18 or older and acknowledge that the ACTFL assessments available through this site may only be taken by test candidates aged 18 or older.

Test Proctoring

All tests must be proctored using our web-based provider. Web-based proctoring allows you to schedule and take your test with a remote proctor. The remote proctor contractor will monitor your computer and record activity via webcam as you take your test. A valid government-issued ID (US military ID can not be used) that matches the name on the test is required.

Rescheduling, Cancellation, and Missed Appointments

Tests can be rescheduled or cancelled by clicking Scheduled Tests from your My Account page and then selecting Reschedule or Cancel. If you reschedule or cancel your test less than 72 hours before the scheduled date and time, you will be charged a fee. The fees vary by test type and the amount of notice given and are listed in the table below.

In the event you miss your scheduled OPI appointment, please contact us to reschedule it.

Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI) - If you select this type of assessment please be aware that you will be dialing an US number so will need to ensure you can dial out of your country if you are located outside the United States and the cost of the call is not included in the test fee.

Refund Policy: All tests must be taken within 180 days of the order date. After 180 days, the test will expire and no longer be accessible. No refund or credits will be given for tests no completed within 180 days of ordering.

Notification of Test Results

Test ratings are provided within 2-4 weeks of the test administration date. You will receive an e-mail notification when your results are available and posted to your account for you to view test results and print your certificate.

Certificates

By placing an order through LTI, you will receive an ACTFL certificate, which is recognized is most countries around the world. However, if you are seeking a certificate for use in South Korea, you must test through Multicampus.

ACTFL and LTI are proud to be partnering with Credly to provide a new way to showcase your language skills by earning and displaying a digital badge as a credential for use on social media sites, in digital signatures, or embedded in a resume.

Credly badges are digital credentials that recognize the effort involved in learning a language and provide evidence of an indispensable, validated skill. They are awarded for each of the four communication skills, Speaking, Writing.
