Test Accommodations

As the Exclusive Licensee of ACTFL Assessments, LTI is committed to fostering inclusive access to ACTFL assessments for all learners in Grades 3-12 by providing reasonable accommodations appropriate to each individual’s unique abilities and needs. As such, all test accommodations requests are handled on a case-by-case basis in order to provide personalized solutions that make ACTFL assessments accessible to learners with diverse needs.

Requests for testing accommodations should be submitted as early as possible since up to 10 business days (excluding weekends and US holidays) are required for processing once they are received. In some cases, additional time may be required while requests are reviewed and the appropriate accommodations enabled for each test.

Please read the instructions below carefully as they will help you to understand how to submit accommodations requests for your learners in Grades 3-12. Please note that if you are seeking information about accommodations for Higher Education, for Government and Commercial testing, or for tests purchased by individuals independently of an organization, you should visit the corresponding page for your needs:

ACTFL Assessment of Performance toward Proficiency in Languages (AAPPL)

Accessibility features are embedded in AAPPL.

NO accommodation requests need to be made for the embedded accessibilities listed here, which are available for all students:

  • Screen reader compatibility with alt-descriptions for all images
  • Keyboard navigation
  • Color control
  • Font size customization
  • Magnification
  • No request needed.

Below is a list of some common accommodations.

  • Closed captioning
  • Unlimited viewing
  • Extended Testing Time for the ILS component (time and one-half or double time)

All requests must go through the review process for verification before the accommodation can be granted.

If an accommodation other than those listed above is needed, please follow the steps outlined in the next column and selecting Other accommodations within the form and describing what is needed for the learner.

At least 10 business days before the desired test date, please order all AAPPL components for the learner(s) that will be testing. Then, submit your request for accommodations through this secure online form.

  • The online form will allow you to submit requests for individual learners or also for multiple learners in a single request. Please follow the on-screen instructions while completing the form.
  • When you submit the form successfully, you will see a confirmation screen and receive an email including the details of your request.
  • There is also a space in the online form to detail any accommodations that are not listed in the left column of this page but that might be required for a learner.
  • You will need to know the learner’s AAPPL username (located under AAPPL Test Status on the Client Site), the specific accommodations that are needed, the planned test date, and which AAPPL components the learner will take. This is an example of an AAPPL Username, which you will need to provide for each learner: N1193378.
  • Requests take up to 10 business days (excluding weekends and US holidays) to process.
  • You will receive an email from accommodations@languagetesting.com either confirming the accommodations request or letting you know the request cannot be met for some reason. You can view the status of your AAPPL accommodations requests on the LTI Client Site within the Accommodations Status menu.
  • LTI does not require that documentation be submitted to us directly for testing accommodations for learners in Grades 3-12 in order to protect their privacy. However, we entrust teachers, schools, and school districts with ensuring that accommodations requests are based on acceptable supporting documentation that has been verified by your organization. Please contact us by email at accommodations@languagetesting.com with any questions about the accommodations process that are not answered on this page.

At least 10 business days before the desired test date, you must first order the test and then submit your accommodations request through through this secure online form. Please be prepared to provide the following details when submitting your request:

  • the type of assessment(s) being taken and the preferred test date,
  • the type of accommodation(s) being requested, (please refer to the list at left),
  • a list of any devices that may be needed to help with the accommodation process. LTI is not responsible for providing those devices.
  • a detailed explanation of any other accommodations that are requested and not listed on this page.
  • Requests take up to 10 business days (excluding weekends and US holidays) to process.
  • You will receive an email from accommodations@languagetesting.com either confirming the accommodations request or letting you know the request cannot be met for some reason.

All documentation submitted to LTI is kept confidential and is used only to determine eligibility for test accommodations. ACTFL Score Reports do not include any information about any accommodation provided.
